WTF?

And by WTF I truly mean what the fuck!

Three (3)things I learned today...

1) Teenagers aren't that smart.  Stunning, I know but all empirical evidence points to this statement being factual.  Case in point... I'm perusing Pownce, one of the SocNet/Micro-blogging sites that I frequent when I come across a blog from a 15yo girl. The Dude is not going to link her because... Well, because I'm not going to further her stupidity.  Her blog consisted of the following information...  full name,  city and state, the name of her apartment complex and a picture of said complex.  I guess the picture was for the really lazy stalker types.

2) Not everyone *gets* my  humor... *nuff* said


3) It's semi-cute when an *enhanced* trophy wife of a client tries to prove how smart she is by claiming to only watch C-span... I freaking work in politics and I don't watch c-span.

November Spawned a Monster(The updated Up Date)

So much for my *good* news... The Doctors received word back from pathology that even though it was very unusual my Hodgkin's has returned...

  Hodgkin's is  usually one of two ways, you get treatment and it goes into  remission or you have a very aggressive type and the disease wins the battle.  My Hodgkin's has been a different animal altogether...  Long gaps of being cancer free is not the norm blah, blah, blah...

Who cares, right?  Yeah, I feel the same way.

Long story short.. Bone Marrow Biopsy on the 9th

The bone marrow biopsy may be done in the health care provider's office or in a hospital. The sample is usually taken from the hip bone. The skin is cleansed, and a local anesthetic is injected to numb the skin.

The biopsy needle is then inserted into the bone. The core of the needle is removed by rotating the needle or inserting an instrument within the needle. This forces a tiny sample of the bone marrow into the needle. The needle is then removed. Pressure is applied to the biopsy site to stop bleeding, and a bandage is applied.

An aspirate may also be performed, usually before the biopsy is taken. After the skin is anesthetized, the aspirate needle is inserted into the bone, and a syringe is used to withdraw the liquid bone marrow. If this is performed, the needle will be removed and either repositioned, or another needle may be used for the biopsy.

Painful? Like nothing else in this world...

Micro Blogging and All That Jazz

"You never blog anymore"... I hear it often and it's just not true. I  just don't blog in the traditional way as much.  The fact is, most blogs are too damn long   .  The web is a *fast-twitch* society with a voracious appetite for information... Can you disseminate your story in a way that lets me read, enjoy, comment and focus on the next thing in a timely manner?  If not, you're not blogging you're just participating in the English Literature Graduate's version of masturbation.

  One such venue for minimalist blogging is Twitter.   Make your freaking point in 140 characters or less. Would micro blogging work for every kind of blog worthy subject?  Of course not...  But a lot of you would be wise to try it.  Had a bad day in traffic on the way home from work?   Tell us a short & pithy story in a way that wont make me want to set you on fire.  Just because you can use 5000 words to tell a story doesn't mean you should.

November Spawned a Monster(The Up Date)

Only in my world could having cancer be considered good news... The *good* is that it's not a return of my Hodgkin's but a totally new cancer which will be determined later this week.  Why is this good news? Well, since I've had three (3) bouts with Hodgkin's and cancer free for at least five (5) years it would mean that I had a very aggressive non treatable form of the disease. Thus any treatment would have been merely palliative in nature.

So, the next step was to figure out how they would biopsy the tumor inside Duane's chest.  After much back & forth between the medical brain trust they decide that a scope via my throat would be the entry of choice(my 1st choice as well since the idea of opening my chest was not a happy thought)

Flash forward to right now... My chest is a little sore, I sound a wee bit like Barry White but feeling good over all.  Now we wait for the pathology results, the call from my Oncologist and we see what we'll see..
